𝐉𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐞 𝐱𝐱 '𝐈𝐧 𝐖𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐬' @xlrecordings A strong challenger for the prize. One of the best electronic albums in recent years. 𝐏𝐮𝐥𝐩 '𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐞' @roughtrade Its rave reviews and sense of cultural moment could easily carry it onto the shortlist. Also, Jarvis is a legend. I once met him in WH Smiths and he was a gent! 𝐊𝐚𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐬𝐭 '𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐓𝐢𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐝' @islandrecordsuk Kae's best album yet. Critics have praised its honesty and craft, cementing Kae once again as a Mercury Prize essential. 𝐖𝐨𝐥𝐟 𝐀𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐞 '𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠' @columbiarecords Having already won the Mercury once, this comeback record makes them strong contenders again. 𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐲 𝐒𝐳𝐦𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐤 '𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐭 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐧𝐝 𝐎𝐟 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞' @mushroommusic @virginmusic Its originality and relatability make it exactly the kind of record the Mercury loves to spotlight. Perhaps a dark horse? 𝐂𝐌𝐀𝐓 '𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨-𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐲' @awal CMAT’s Euro-Country is a witty, heart-on-sleeve reimagining of country pop through an Irish lens. 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐒𝐢𝐦𝐳 '𝐋𝐨𝐭𝐮𝐬' @awal After her Mercury win for 'Sometimes I Might Be Introvert', this feels like another statement. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐞 '𝐒𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐋𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝' @polydorrecords A legendary band landing back in Mercury conversations brings an extra weight to this year’s field. 𝐒𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐝 '𝐂𝐨𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬' @warprecords One of my personal favs from the list. Has the potential to do an English Teacher this year. 𝐆𝐞𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐞 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐩 '𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝' @roughtrade A wild record that has Mercury Prize written all over it. If you haven't heard 'Holy, Holy' yet, it will blow your mind! 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐲, 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝 '𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐇𝐨𝐰𝐥 @ninjatune This feels like another obvious nomination. Not sure it will win, but who knows?!
